You're Outta Here!

People have taken the Bear Flag and the Bear Flag Revolt very seriously over the years.

In the late 1800s, after publication of his monumental works on California history, Hubert H. Bancroft was kicked out from his honorary membership in the Society of California Pioneers because of his less than laudatory view of the Bear Flag Revolt and its Bear Flaggers.

It is notable how important these events were to many at a point in time already 40+ years after the Revolt had occurred.
